Performance must be dimensioned as a system

A robot type or nominal throughput is not enough for evaluation. The complete chain of storage access, transport, buffer, workstation, operator and IT is decisive. Three scenarios — normal operation, peak and disruption — show whether buffers and redundancy work together. Supplier figures are inputs, not a guarantee for the overall process.

Which technology is the most flexible?

AMRs are often flexible in terms of routes and fleet size. Another technology may nevertheless be better for storage capacity, item access and total system performance.

Is AutoStore always the most space-efficient solution?

AutoStore can be highly compact. Building grid, item structure, access profile, ports, fire protection and expansion still require project-specific evaluation.

When is a shuttle system suitable?

When bin processes require high dynamics, differentiated level performance or redundancy, and the building and operating organisation support it.

How should proposals be compared?

Using an identical system boundary, load cases, availability definition, energy balance, maintenance scope, IT interfaces and acceptance tests.
